"HEART OF CHRISTMAS"

How to Order

Comments:

A number of years back, as a gift for my regulars on my web site, I recorded one of my favorite Christmas songs "In The Bleak Mid-Winter". The idea was to create an MP3 download of the song, available for a limited time around Christmas. Well, that never happened, but it did inspire me to do a whole album of Christmas songs. My wife Karen was particularly championing this album, and was pushing a bit for me to finish it in time for the 2001 season. Well, push I did, and it actually debuted on a tour of Canada around Nov. 20th, 2001. Sound familiar? Of course that was immediately after 9/11.We weren't even sure that airports would be open in time to start the tour, but it did start on time. In regard to my Christmas album, it was my thought to just do a few seconds of a couple of the songs in concert, demonstrating the content. However, audiences began to join in, and soon we were singing several of the songs, notably "Silent Night" all the way through. It was clear that this Christmas would have a healing effect not only on our nation, but neighboring nations as well, who shared in our grief. It gave me a fresh appreciation for the reason we celebrate Christmas, and was a worthy debut for this CD.

Sometimes a bit bored by traditional Christmas musical fare, it was one of my goals to spin a fresh musical approach for these Christmas chestnuts. Another goal was to have the CD really bring honor to Jesus. I searched the net for lyrics and found several verses that are usually left out of the standard versions, which had strong Christian content. I included these verses sometimes to the exclusion of the more familiar versions. When it was my feeling that a song did not have a strong enough Christian content (“The First Noel”, for example), I wrote special verses. I even “Christianized” Jingle Bells. On a drive down to Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa, I received from the Lord the inspiration for the original song. “Heart Of Christmas”. All in all, I am very pleased with this album, and believe it will be a spiritual inspiration to your holiday season.
